Southern Steel Mesh Sdn Bhd ("SSM") was incorporated in  27th December 1980, and established under Hong Leong Industries Bhd. It merged with Southern Mesh Sdn Bhd in 1995 and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southern Steel Group in 2000.

Since  the late 1980s, SSM has been the leader in the local steel welded mesh industry. Leveraging our century of experiences and expertise, we took over the Cut and Bend business unit from Southern Steel Berhad in 2007. SSM principally specialized in the manufacturing, sales and marketing of steel wire mesh, concrete wires, hard-drawn wires, cut and bend rebars and other related products.

We have four manufacturing plants strategically located in the Central and Northern regions to give customers an accessible products and services. Our mesh manufacturing plants are located in Klang and Prai with a combined production capacity of 150,000 Mt per annum and two cut and bend manufacturing plants located in Rawang and Prai with an annual capacity of 160,000 Mt.

SSM is the earliest wire mesh manufacturer to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9001. It also has Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels (“ACRS”) certification for the Australian or New Zealand markets.

Cut and Bend division is one of the leading mills in Malaysia to offer off-site cut and bend bars for the construction industry. Our aim is to help customers with a hassle-free process and raise productivity standards in construction. Through our streamlined process and expertise, we deliver solutions that are customized to the project reinforcement blueprint within the project timeline and reduce material wastage. We are the first off-site Cut and Bend fabricator to be certified with MS 1438:1998 by SIRIM. The Company adheres to stringent quality control and has strong technical backup to fulfill the requirements of complexed projects.
